10/21/2005 - Class Championship for Velocity*
The season ending race for the 2005 Star Mazda Championship was held at the appropriately named Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. The Velocity Motorsports team returned to the track that one year ago marked the beginning of the pro series effort with drivers Mark Patterson, John Pew and Phil Saville. With a full season of competition under the team’s belts, they were focused on securing the Master Series Class Championship with driver John Pew.
 
 
10/16/2005 - John Pew Captures Masters Championship at Laguna
In the Masters Championship, for drivers aged 45 and older, John Pew driving the NVG Velocity Motorsports Mazda finished third to capture the Championship and 15th overall with 188 points over defending champion John Faulkner in his Peregrine Motorsports Mazda. Jon Brownson, in the Westridge Development Eurosport Racing Mazda, would capture his first victory of the season ahead of Emmett Murphy.

In the Masters Championship, John Pew driving the Velocity Motorsports Mazda, captured his fourth victory of the season to maintain his grip on the points lead with 174 points while John Faulkner in the Peregrine Motorsports Mazda would finish second in class and points with 167. Doug Peterson, who entered the weekend third in points, would finish seventh on the day and fall out of championship contention.
 
  09/05/2005 - Mosport*
The Velocity Motorsports Team came to the Mosport Circuit in Canada a week prior to the race weekend for a couple of days of testing. Driver John Pew completed over 550 miles around the ultra-fast circuit. During the test, the team continued to rebuild Phil Saville’s car after the accident at Road America. The test was a success as Pew and the crew worked on car setups for the race weekend.
 
 
09/01/2005 - Labor Day Grand Prix of Mosport
In the Masters Championship, John Pew, pilot of the NVG Velocity Motorsports Mazda, would climb to the top of the championship heap with 154 points while John Faulkner, driving the Peregrine Motorsports entry, would recover from an off-track excursion but fall to second in the point’s race with 151 points. Doug Peterson would remain in third place in the championship with 144 points.

This weekend also had a very special feel as the Star-Mazda Series was supporting the Racing For Kids® program. The Velocity Motorsports Team was very much a part of the weekend events. “I am very happy that the team is behind such a great cause,”
 
  08/25/2005 - Road America*
The Star Mazda Series presented by Goodyear returned to the 4.048 mile road course at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, for round nine of the championship. The Velocity Motorsports Team entered the weekend after the Portland round where John Pew finished 13th overall in the race and continues to maintain his lead in the Masters Series. “We have an optimistic outlook on the race weekend,” stated driver coach Oswaldo Negri, Jr.
 
 
08/20/2005 - Road America 500
First Place Velocity Motorsports driver John Pew was caught in the points by John Faulkner In the Masters Championship with 142 points each. Former Masters Champion Doug Peterson sits in third place in his 3-Dimensional Services Mazda with 124 points.
 
 
07/30/2005 - Class Win for Pew in Portland
Pew would come out on top in his Velocity Motorsports Mazda, recording his third Masters class victory of the year as he continues to lead the Masters Championship with 130 points. John Faulkner in his Peregrine Motorsports Mazda sits in second place with 122 points and Doug Peterson holds third with 113 points.

Ken Erb, owner of the Velocity Motorsports Star Mazda team, is pleased to announce some new additions to the team. Keith Mellick has joined the team as Director of Race Operations.
 
  07/20/2005 - Mid Season Report*
The last four rounds of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear have sent the Velocity Motorsports Team across North America. The North Carolina based team began their journey to the Formula 1 race weekend in Montreal, Canada, in June.
 
 
07/16/2005 -Staying Ahead in Points at Infineon
John Pew would finish third on the day in his Velocity Motorsports Mazda to keep his place atop the Masters Championship with 110 points, while John Faulkner sits second with 106 points and Peterson third with 101 points. Doug Peterson would come out on top in his 3-Dimensional Services Mazda to earn his third Masters class victory of the year.
 
 
07/03/2005 - Pike's Peak - Round and Round They Go
In the Masters Championship, John Pew maintains his hold on first place. John Faulkner would bring his Racers Edge Motorsports Mazda at the front of the field and moves into second place in the championship with 74 points.
 
 
06/11/2005 - Mazda Racers Join F1 Circus at Montreal
In the Masters Series John Pew holds on to the points lead as Doug Peterson wins the class for the second straight race.
 
  06/03/ 2005 - Mid-Ohio*
A week before the 3rd round of the 2005 Star Mazda Championship, Velocity Motorsports tested at the ultra competitive Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “I was very pleased with the performance of our drivers and team after the test,” stated team owner Ken Erb.
 
 
05/21/2005 - Pew - Peterson Battle Continues at Mid-O
After three rounds Matos leads the championship with 134 points ahead of Scott Jenkins with 95 points and Pecorari with 94 points. In Expert Series competition, for drivers between the ages of 30-44, Micky Gilbert has the lead with 56 points, while Mike Anderson sits in second with 42 points. In the Masters Series Doug Peterson won the class ahead of John Pew but Pew maintains the points lead with 56 points to Peterson's 40 points.
 
  04/17/2005 - Road Atlanta*
Velocity Motorsports returned for the 2nd round of the 2005 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Road Atlanta. Drivers John Pew of North Palm Beach, Fla., Mark Patterson of Bronxville, N.Y. and Phil Saville of Oakbrook IL. were anticipating a high level of competitiveness at this race.
 
  04/17/2005 -Class Victory for JP at Road Atlanta
John Pew extended his lead in the Masters Championship with the class victory in his NVG Velocity Motorsports Mazda. After two rounds Matos leads the overall championship with 89 points ahead of Jaskol with 77 and Jenkins with 69 points. In Expert Series competition, for drivers between the ages of 30-44, Micky Gilbert maintains the lead, capturing the class victory in his GIlbert Engineering Eurosport Racing Mazda.

The 2005 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear got off to a rocket of a start last week. The Velocity Motorsports team arrived in Florida with high expectations for the new season.
 
  03/14/2005 - Prospect Hill, N.C.*
The engines have fired up at Velocity Motorsports as the 3-car team prepares to open the 2005 Pro Mazda Series presented by Goodyear March 15-18. Drivers John Pew, Mark Patterson and Phil Saville are ready for the 1st of eleven rounds of racing in North America’s premier open wheel support series to the American LeMans Series.
